The Hoka Gaviota 6 Wide is a cushioned road running shoe for runners who over-pronate and need more room than the standard fit. Hoka shoes generally fit narrower than many other running brands, so the wide version is a useful option if you like the feel of Hoka but need extra space across the foot. It still gives the same high level of cushioning and support as the regular Gaviota 6.

The shoe is designed to control excessive inward foot movement. When the arch compresses on landing but does not reshape quickly enough, the runner may push off from the inside of the foot rather than the end of the big toe. Repeated over thousands of steps, this can contribute to blisters on the inside of the foot, shin pain, pain below the kneecap or discomfort down the outside of the thigh.

The Gaviota 6 Wide uses an H-shaped stability frame made from firmer foam inside the midsole. This cradles the foot and helps guide it through the gait cycle, reducing excessive inward movement. The 39mm heel and 33mm forefoot stack give a soft, cushioned feel, while the 6mm drop and rocker-shaped midsole help reduce heel striking, braking forces and over-striding.

The wide fit gives extra room, while the updated upper still holds the foot securely on the midsole. An internal ghillie lacing system pulls the upper around the midfoot, and extra padding around the heel and collar improves step-in comfort. The toe box is less pointed than before, giving more room for toe movement. In summary, the Hoka Gaviota 6 Wide is a plush, stable everyday trainer for over-pronators who need a roomier fit.
